Currently, WebIssues uses BBCode for formatting text.
Would it be possible to support Markdown as an alternative, adding it as a third "text format" option.
Actually the format used by WebIssues is a mixture of BBCode and in-line markup similar to that used by Markdown. I think it's easier to use for casual users. Markdown supports almost every feature of HTML and it also allows verbatim HTML to be inserted, which I think would be too much for WebIssues. I wrote an article explaining the rationale behind WI text formatting a few years ago when I introduced this feature.
I noticed you did support Markdown's __, ** and `..` syntax, which I didn't know about and are probably the most useful in WebIssues' context (you don't really headers and entire essays in issue descriptions; use attachments for that).

I guess that's good enough then :)
