Unable to connect using the Windows Client

Hello,

Thanks you for a great product. I have installed and configured the latest version of the web server earlier today (http://bugs.challengelogic.co.uk and all works well. I am also able to connect without issues using the Mac OS X client. However when I try to connect from a Windows 7 Machine using the Windows client I receive the following connection error:

Connection could not be opened: A network error occurred.

My colleague also on Windows 7 running the Windows Client also receives the same error.

Looking through other forum entries where people experienced the same issue I noticed you mention about the following URL:

http://bugs.challengelogic.co.uk/server/webissues/handler.php

I have checked and this is in place and working, but would expect this to be the case as the Mac OS X Client is working fine.

Any ideas what the issue may be with both mine and my colleagues Windows Client connections?

I'm not sure, maybe it's some kind of proxy error? I was able to connect to your server from the Windows client on my machine (obviously I didn't log in because I don't know the password, but the communication is working fine).

Hi Michal,

Many thanks for the response although I'm not sure this is a proxy issue as both myself and my colleague connect using different Internet connections and providers. None of us run a proxy locally plus it works fine from my Mac using the OS X Client using the same connection to the Internet. I will keep looking and let you know if I find anything, also please let me know if you do happen to think of anything too.

Just a thought I noticed that all the windows screenshots are from Windows XP - could this be related to Windows 7?

I also have this problem with Windows 7, however it only occurs when the WebIssues client is being run as a user without administrative privledges.

The Desktop Client (v1.0.2) will make an outbound initial connection to identify the server but when presenting the username/password login box then fails to connect with a network connection error.

Is it possible it is attempting to re-use the same HTTP connection but this is being either disconnected by Windows or the http session is expiring?

It is not a Windows Firewall issue as disabling the firewall does not correct the problem.

The Desktop Client works perfectly with any user that has administrative privledges.
