sending incorrect URL in email

Submitted by mleppelman@par… on 2021-12-08

We have people that will be using the system from outside our network.  When I set them up with an account the system sends them an email with an internal IP address.  They need the external URL.  How do I change this so it send people an email with the external URL instead of the internal IP?

The URL in the emails is the same as the one you use to open the page. Can you use the external URL internally?

Michał

We can use the external URL internally.

OK, so if you always use the external URL, including when you run the cron job, then all emails should contain the external URL.

I just logged in with the external URL and using the admin account I did a password reset on my personal account.  I got the link with our external IP(which is ok) but the link didn't work.  This is what the link had.  I am deleting the actual IP.

http://External IP:Port/users/password.php?key=0i0Ddcy2yaJk

if I log in using the external IP and the port it works for me but this link didn't work to reset the password.

What happens when you open that link? Do you get some error?

Michał

It turns out I am not able to access it with the public IP and port.  I think that is why the link isn't working.  I tried it from a computer not on or network and it worked fine.

Thanks for your assistance on this matter and thanks for your fast responses.
